Wayne and Stella - Manly apartment 2013

Fee's Scope :-

This apartment is situated in the bustling centre of Manly.

Faced with a dated 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment with a small, unfunctional  kitchen, little storage and a tiny laundry.

The brief was to update the design, make better use of the floorplan and maximise storage in all facets including new bathrooms, new kitchen and new laundry :-

The owners were very specific with their  wish list for the kitchen which included a wine fridge, large oven, lots of storage and a modern commercial sized fridge.

A large and functional laundry was created out of an unusable alcove being utilised as a tiny bedroom .The laundry has pullout ironing board, large cupboards and everything has a place.

Added an incredible amount of storage throughout the apartment.

A special wall screen was custom designed and built to maximise the lounge room and give privacy from the front door. Featured is a beautiful recycled timber entertainment/media wall.

The building posed some difficulties with unknowns, however, these were overcome with clever and practical solutions.

We sourced beautiful latte honed Brazilian limestone for the kitchen benchtops and bathrooms.

Natural Timber veneer was used throughout for warmth.

For the ensuite, a freestanding bath semi -enclosed with large storage behind mirrors and timber veneer vanity.  We ran the same palette through to the main bathroom.

We carried  the timber veneer through to the kitchen to create a visual sense of living room  and warmth.

In the kitchen, black appliances created a striking opposition to the natural timber, wine fridge with wine glass storage and wine rack, dual oven and 2 drawer dishwasher , despite obstacles with a small space and common plumbing we managed a healthy amount of storage with functional pantry space .A place for everything.

A fully self contained and functional laundry with storage and full sized washer and dryer, wall hung ironing centre ,large cupboards transformed the previous pokey laundry.

Large 1200x600 mm tiles blending with the palette in a soft latte appearance with a concrete finish, for kitchen, balconies and bathrooms.

A cool white base colour for walls and ceilings ensured that the bespoke inclusions shined with the natural palette.

All storage areas had poly push doors(no handles)  and same colour as walls so they dissapeared.

Loads of storage and a place for everything and more !

Sentimental keepsakes of artworks were given a new lease of life with stunning new frames.

All new furniture is uniquely bespoke and customised.

The lounge is a prominent, large custom piece suitable for a large family.

Imported custom light fittings with a minimalistic line.

Shutters for simplicity.

Linen Curtains in the bedrooms for intimacy and softness.

Soft, durable plush pile carpet throughout.

"Grass "style wallpaper for the entry with timber screen.

We sourced recycled hardwood with deep veins and crevaces  with a rugged finish and a  nautical touch with stainless fixtures.  A complete opposition to the features throughout making it an interesting talking point

My carpenter really showed his expertise with this piece !

The end result :-

A warm and inviting place to be for the whole family and a beautiful space overall.

A smooth transition of colour and surfaces flows across your eye throughout.

A sense of class where form, function and practicality meet with style.

This apartment is truly a transformation with clever inclusions!
